Special functions in article databases

The article databases may have various special functions that facilitate use and reading. These vary between different databases, it pays to familiarize yourself with each database and take advantage of different functions.

In, for example, the databases in Ebsco, you can listen to an article. It is also possible to translate an article by using the database's translation function. Note that this is an automatic machine translation. The language can be clumsy (and in some cases incorrect) but you can use the translation to get an overview of what an article is about. All databases offer guided help, check out what the different options are in the databases.

More information on how digital reading and writing can be made easier with free features and apps can be found online or in the databases.

Different ways of reading scientific texts

You can read scientific texts in slightly different ways depending on the purpose of your reading. More information about reading strategies can be found in the guide Planning, reading and taking notes.
